1884/96, Stamp Duty Series Lithographed 10 s. brown on rose, margin wmk. letters and first V over Crown sideways, variety perf. 12½ x 13, an unused example part og., centred to upper right, of excellent fresh deep colour, tiny pin hole otherwise fine and an extremely rare and elusive stamp. SG £ 2.750. (Note: SG list the 10 s. with perf. 12 all round and with perf. 12½ all round. They do not list the compound perf. offered above).

1886/99, Collection unused , wmk. Crown over NSW, with 1½ d. apple-green, 1 d. brownish-orange, 2 d. violet, 2½ blue, 3 d. ochre, 4 d. red, 6 d. dull-blue, 9 d. rosine and dull rose and 1 s. brownish-red. A fine lot

1854/1900, Collection on 16 self made album leaves, mostly used with good cancellations, starting 2 sh. dull blueish-green 1854, imperf issues with duplicates, specialized with many perforation varieties and colour shades, watermark varieties including inverted wm., few cards & envelopes. Some occasional faults, mixed quality.

1899/1901, Collection unused , wmk. Crown over NSW, with ½ d. blue-green including block of four, 1 d. rosine including blocks of four and six, 1 d. olive, 3 d. slate-green, 4 d. rose-red, 5 d. red-brown, 9 d. rose and 2 s. blue-green. A fine lot

1854, Woodblock Issue 6 d. dull orange, imperforate, a fine used sheet marginal example (incl. part of bottom stamp) used on 1855 cover to Launceston, Tasmania tied by oval "2/V" obliterator and by framed SHIP LETTER - INWARDS FREE datestamp in red (Nov 15). Reverse with Geelong despatch (Nov 12), Melbourne transit and SHIP LETTER - INWARDS FREE diamond datestamp in red. Minor soiling, otherwise fine and an attractive maritime cover.

1885/95, The unused collection on two leaves with 8 d. shades, ½ d. shades (3), 1 d. yellowish-green and dull pea-green, 3 d. yellowish-brown, 8 d. bright-scarlet incl. Specimen overprint, 2 s. olive-green and apple-green, 2 s. blue-green. A good lot.

1858, Emblems Issue 4 d. pale dull rose on smooth vertically laid paper, over-inked print, rouletted 5½-6½, tied to 1858 entire letter from Geelong to Bendigo by circular "2" numeral obliterator in black, 'Geelong/ Crown / Victoria' datestamp on reverse (JU/25), transit marks Sandhurtst and Melbourne. Tiny toned and light border crease, otherwise fine and scarce cancellations.

1915/27, Kangaroo 9 d. violet, die IIB, third wmk. narrow Crown over A, an unused interpanneau horizontal pair of fine colour showing "T.S. HARRISON" imprint (N over MP) at base, superb large part og. (BW27(3)zc. $1.000)

1918, ½ d. horizontal strip of four and 1 d., all tied by cds. “RABAUL 20 SE 20” to envelope to Berlin, censor tape and violet oval cachet, the envelope small tear at bottom, still fine

1936/90, 40 covers, postal stationerys and cards starting India 3 d. carmine overprinted Bahrain on cover with content from British Naval Command to Alan Pearson, air letter to Australia, cancellations Awali, Manama and F.P.O., FDC and Concorde Flight 1976, destinations Zambia and India, parcel cards, few different, mainly fine and interesting frankings.

1891/2024 (ca.), hundreds of covers and cards with an abundance of interesting usages, many before the 1950s, noted early postal stationery cards, some First Flight covers and censored mail, better items noted like 1895 one cent postal stationery card with additional 2 c. carmin (vertical pair) tied with cds “AMOY” via Hong Kong to Danzig, etc., except for the occasional fault in overall good condition. 

1901,  4 c. on 3 c. postal stationery reply portion of double card with inverted black surcharge (Yang P14 var.) cancelled VICTORIA HONG KONG AU/21/01. Addressed to Stettin Germany with arrival mark 20.9.01, tiny corner crease, otherwise fine. PROFI recorded only one normal card with inverted overprint, reply part inverted is unrecorded.

1879 5c. on 18c. lilac on black on blue U.P.U. formular postcard, very fine and fresh, a difficult card to find in nice condition. (Yang P2)

1881, Nine different postal stationery cards including ´ONE/CENT´ surcharge on 3 c. brown and 4 c. grey, two answering cards, all unused, few tiny toned, mostly fine

1866, Treaty Ports: Shanghai, United Kingdom entire letter from London to Shanghai, cancelled 'Lombard Street / F.O./ Paid / MAR/10/66' cds. in red, endorsed "via Marseilles" on top left. For Late Fee only 1 d. red cancelled and 1/4 d. prepaid in cash by red crayon. Sent via “Care of Messrs. John Burd & Co., Hong Kong”. File fold at bottom, otherwise fine and an unusual entire. The addressee, John Anderson Esq. Mess. W.R. Adamson Co. Shanghai, formed his firm, exporting tea, silk and general merchandise in 1858 in Shanghai and became Chinas greatest export company for tea and silk. In PROFI archive no other forwarding agent covers John Burd Co. to Shanghai recorded.

1880/1970 (ca.), about 140 mostly unused postal stationery items including some states with Registered envelopes of Chamba, Gwailor, Nabha, etc

1905, India Royal visit in November - December, collection of nine postcards showing the progress of the Prince and Princess of Wales to Bombay, few toned spots, otherwise fine.

1890/91, 38 postcards ¼ a. with pre-print of the meterological office

1937, picture postcard 9 a. with scenes of Kashmir, 3 different, unused, vf (H&G 42)

1854, 1st Printing 4 a. pale red & blue, 12 singles from all positions of the sheet, all cut to shape, cancelled or tied by  diamond of bars to reverse of sixtuple rate cover from Bombay to Canton, China, endorsed "Steamer Singapore". Cover with some usual edge wear and lower flap largely removed by opening, otherwise fine and attractive.  An important exhibition-level Ist issue entire with the largest recorded franking of the 4 anna on cover, the 12 singles representing all positions in the sheet.Ex Dawson. (Estimate 50/70.000)

1854, 3rd Printing 4a bright red & bright blue, Head Die II, Frame Die I, horizontal of Stone S1, positions 11-12, large even margins on all sides, used with 1854, 1a red, Die II horizontal pair, good to large margins, tied by diamond of dots to 2nd rate cover 1856 to Bury St. Edmonds, England, with arrival mark, endorsed "Via Bombay & Southampton", with red boxed "SECUNDERABAD FEB. 18" despatch datestamp (Giles 2) on back, on front red "INDIA PAID" crescent and London transit mark also tying the franking. The left 1 a. with minor rubbed spot, otherwise very fine and fresh. An outstanding 1st issue rarity; one of the finest recorded 4 anna 3rd printing multiples on cover and truly exceptional. Ex Gray, Piccus, Heddergott and Dr. Kornan. (Estimate 80/120.000€)
 

1854/55, Die 2, ½ a. blue, deep colour and good to very large margins, used with diamond of dots on small envelope with red "SIMLA" cds. on reverse, very fine

1854, 4th Printing 4 a. red & blue, 8 singles, cut to shape, tied by diamond "1" with adjacend red "BOMBAY B.P.P." to opened out quadruple rate cover to the 'Medical Superintendent' in Aden, with clearly struck "BOMBAY AUG. 29"(1856) despatch mark on reverse, also Aden arrival mark. Slightly opened at left on arrival, with minor wear and a few small toned spots, not detracting from the fine and fresh appearance of this rare quadruple-rate franking. An outstanding and impressive entire to a rare destination. Ex Frenkle, 'Kohinoor', Heddergott, and Dr. Kornan. (Estimate 25-35.000€)

 

1857/58, Indian Rebellion, 4 covers (one weak in the folds) with original contens to Captain Patrick James Orr, all endorsed "On public service". Partly interesting contens about the uprising, one letter with transcription.
